Nicholas Bartlett
An old-school American OSS 'cowboy', a covert agent who answered to almost no-one when it came to espionage and sabotage during the war. He's not read to give up this freedom, and sees Berlin as a scarred land of opportunity. Staying there will keep him away from a world he doesn't, and probably can't, understand.
Draw
Nicholas hasn't quite 'gone rogue', but he's maintained a tremendous amount of autonomy since the close of WWII. He still maintains minor contact with what is now the CIA, but he is essentially alone in Berlin, with no operational support beyond what he can scrounge himself. He is getting too old to continue hands-on operations for very much longer, and he views Berlin as his last great adventure. He will hold on as long as he can until someone pulls him out.
Hidden agendas
National
Much like the twisted German scientists, the Americans see great value in the creatures that have been reported. Nicholas is to collect samples, and, if possible, a live speciment to deliver to a secret CIA 'Black' lab near Berlin.
Personal
Stay in Berlin for as long as possible. If this means occasionally letting a creature escape, or killing a comrade who is a little too goal oriented, so be it.

Trust
Trust: 3
Why:
- His interest in fear is terrifying, yet strangely magnetic. I am drawn to his rationalism and skepticism. He tries to make sense of the world in his own way, why can't he see the individualism in that? I can get close to him because he poses no real threat to me, I've already seen horrors beyond imagining.
Trust: 1
- He's lost someone, perhaps if I help him, he'll open up to me more. It's difficult trusting someone who doesn't love his country, but I get the feeling Sergei hasn't received very good treatment at the hands of Mother Russia.
CONTACT
German Black Marketeer
Karl Wolper: He has his ear to the ground has been one of my most important tools while I've been in Berlin. He hears many things, and pays well for information. He can also acquire specialized equipment that has helped me many times in the past. I'd trust him with my life, and have done so on many occasions.
