How to make a Hero's Banner character

1. Choose a name, and a political situation to be involved in. Make sure this crosses with others'.

2. Make a Hero, Conscience, and Blood influence. These should be a short paragraph each.

  • Hero should be a legend you look up to.
  • Blood should be a family obligation.
  • Conscience should be a personal want.

3. Then write down an ideal and a goal for each. An ideal is a phrase that sums up the character's ideal relating to this influence. A goal is what the character wants. Be careful! You can make this too vague or too specific.

4. Create a connection for each influence. This should be a *representative*: someone you have a close connection to. Feel free to mix with other players'.

5. Map out three strong relationships from your character:

  • A blood relative
  • An enemy
  • A friend or lover

6. Assign the score 34 to one influence, and 33 to the others. Set your passion to 1.

How to increase your passion

1. Divide the passion increase in half. Because we're awesome, if the original increase is odd, round to the next even number.

2. Take this halved number. Add it to your highest influence rating. Subtract it from your lowest influence rating.

3. (OPTIONAL) If you want to adjust further, you can subtract an even number from your middle score and add half of it to each other score. Or you can add an even number to your middle score and subtract half of it from each other score. Be careful not to move the middle score above the highest score or below the lowest score, or everything unravels.

Really good GM advice from Treuer-man

Quit thinking about the big picture. It can extend over many episodes.
